In life, the role of a
woman is so complex. Being a Mother, Daughter, Sister, & Wife are
essential components to a lifestyle that defines the role of Mz.
Roshell. Born and raised in the Golden State, Mz. Roshell grew up in
heart of the Cooley Plaza in Fresno, California. This part of the
city was home to poverty, and bloodshed alike as she found herself
exposed to some of the deadliest gang blocks this city had to offer.
An
unstable home structure caused her to bounce back and forth between
her parents home and grandmothers. It was there with her grandmother
that she found comfort in her childhood under the loving care of her
bible believing Grandmother. Her grandmother made it a purpose to
keep her grandchildren exposed to church and the understanding of
who God created them to be. But this would be up ended at any given
point due to a controlling father who would not provide for her and
her siblings, but would destroy any chance at happiness. Through all
the turmoil the only escape to this environment was her friends and
love for dance and music.
She always had a passion to sing and dance influenced by artists
like TLC, and Salt & Pepa and dreamed of being a choreographer. But
that dream changed once she met and started seeing a new guy at the
age of 16 and becoming engaged. At the age of 18, Mz. Roshell found
herself in a completely different world as she found herself
pregnant, working and not finishing school. This in turn led to
marriage and a day to day struggle to manage being a baby herself,
while raising a child and being a wife.
The first few years in her marriage were tough as her family
struggled financially, which also caused strife in their
relationship. On the brink of divorce on many occasions Mz. Roshell
and her husband toughed it out and ended up serving in their local
church. Through faith they established a foundation to become a
strong husband and wife. From there the love for other womens
stories gave Mz. Roshell the inspiration to inspire with her love
from childhood. From local to prison outreaches she refined her
skills to inspire with an urban feel of song and hip-hop. This
produced an awesome woman of inspiration and her debut album,
